#008: blurryface

okay so i have quite a bit to blog about since the last time i updated but i just attended twenty one pilots’ concert yesterday night and i think this is going to be a pretty long post so i’ll leave the rest of the stuff for the weekend or something 🙂

anyway so yeah i’ve been waiting for this concert for a pretty long time since i purchased the tickets on the same day they were announced/released and it’s been non-stop building anticipation since then

i mean, if you follow me anywhere on social media you’ve probably seen at least one post on this prior to the actual concert

so on the actual day i wanted to go queue early since i wasn’t working/having school but i didn’t think there would be such a long queue so ….  i procrastinated (obviously.)

by the time i reached at 2pm there was already a longish queue?? and i was still strolling/stopping for starbucks wow good job me

LOOK AT THAT QUEUE WHAT THE HECK HAHA  ok singapøre skeletøn clique may not be a huge group but they’re all p hardcore like the sheer number of people in red beanies like tyler’s / red snapbacks like josh’s / the war paint and most importantly the mERCH

i queued for a couple hours alone (because i was earlier than i told suen ern i was going to be there oop) with my starbucks and my nook reading on the floor of suntec convention centre like a friendless hobo 🙂

THEN suen finally got there and we started talking and it was really nice to catch up, i’ve really missed her and the other altos i was close to [other than xinying. i see her plenty. kidz love you xy!!] and after an eternity yew peng arrived and nisha came with fooood :>

tbh a lot of funny shit happened in the 6 hours of queuing but all that was forgotten during the concert so i can’t share the hilarity with y’all

loook some of the fans made signs for everyone to hold up which was really sweet it reminded me of my first concert [super junior with Jieyin in 2011 lmao no judgement pls!!] with all the fan projects and the love and everything!! one girl who got to go for M&G with tyler and joseph even prepared a notebook for us all to write messages and i’m so glad i got to write in it even though i don’t think my puny paragraph will mean much to them

AND THEN THE CONCERT STARTED  we were fuckin hyped omg we were like 5/6 rows from the front at first which wasn’t too bad i mean look at these glorious photos

tyler clearly loves climbing things omg this boy i swear to god he would’ve climbed the metal scaffolding struts at the side of the stage if he hadn’t been explicitly told not to (which i’m sure the management/venue staff did say)

my babies look like angels omg they’re so beautifully backlit [YOU HAVE NO IDEA how hard it is to take photos at a 21p concert bc the flashing epileptic spotlights will ruin your white balance completely every 0.5 seconds]

JOSH DUN my god he’s a huge drum idol/inspiration because he’s so passionate and he has all the technical skills (his control over the stick bounce is cray) and i just

watching him made me want to practice for hours immediately after the concert lmao

look at tyler joseph my shining golden sun/son omg since this is the band’s first performance in singapore, they didn’t know what to expect from the fanbase + tyler’s just recovered from a throat infection so yknow it makes sense to get the crowd to occasionally sing for him and YOU KNOW when he heard everyone shouting at the top of their lungs to every. single. song. without missing a word he just looked so incredibly happy my heart was so full.

SKI MASKS cool af i love how theatrical their performances can be          FullSizeRender (30) FullSizeRender (31)

ok and you know how i said we were row 5/6?? SOMEHOW while we were all squeezing some spaced appeared in front of Nisha and i just squished along behind her and we ended up in the  centre at about third row?? fucking magic omg  we were so close we could see all the sweat on their faces and i was just like /stretches out hands BABES

so thankful for my choice of concert budz yey nisha has mad skillz

look @ this omg it was during Car Radio when they were hitting the drums that had water on them for ~special effects~ my tiny monkey children stop climbing everything (no don’t actually stop it’s frickin adorable) and my friend Colleen got a video of Josh backflipping off the piano too like ??? that is not a trampoline please be safe boys

a friendship like tyler’s and josh’s just gives me so much hope (and so many feels dear god) i can only hope that my friendships last and continue developing enough to reach their level bc it’s truly phenomenal to watch

tyler was introducing the people who made the concert possible and he got us to applaud/cheer loud af for Josh then he told us to just be super silent when he referred to himself and he kept this up for ages and i guess it’s really sweet bc often the lead singer of a band will get the lion’s share of the fandom’s love but since it’s only the two of them as an inseparable package that’s not a worry here

FullSizeRender (46)

tyler really loves to climb things.

FullSizeRender (49)

look at this angel he came so damn close to the crowd my god he clearly did not fear any crazy fans coming too close to himFullSizeRender (23)

josh’s kit omg i wish i had that drum skin it’s gorgeous. then again anytime i see a band i love performing i want their drum skins soooo…. yup.FullSizeRendersome girl managed to get the setlist omg and yeah there are typos but STILL what a great souvenir. i can’t believe they played 16 songs wtf (even though i wish it was more i would kill to hear polarize/doubt/truce live tbh)

FullSizeRender (25)fraaaanz ayy i’m so glad it wasn’t awkward even though it was a really haphazardly put together group 🙂 love for a band like this transcends social boundaries lmao

FullSizeRender (24)
well here is a grainy selfie with absolutely no link bc i was only taking it to see how well my lipstick survived the day (p well. no ragrets on spending $$$ on that) sigh the post concert depression is hitting pretty hard this time because twenty one pilots is a band that is very close to my heart

i mean as an aspiring drummer/singer/writer they are everything i look up to: they are stellar at what they do and still incredibly humble. they never take their fanbase for granted and they always show their appreciation in incredible ways. they command the stage without too many gimmicks but rather with their personality and amazing musical quality. and tyler’s lyrics are so unabashedly raw and honest sometimes – i wish i could be as vulnerable as he is in putting so much of his heart and soul out into the world. the words he strings together just pierce your heart in the most unexpected ways and i just… it’s sometimes everything i need to hear and everything i’ve never been able to say all at once

and yeah even if i can’t be the one to put out messages like this at least there’s tyler joseph and i am more than happy to support his career 🙂

right now i can’t find the mood to listen to anything but twenty one pilots but the songs i heard live last night make me wanna cry when i hear them now 😦

there is a certain level of emotional release that comes from shouting out the words branded on your heart with a crowd of hundreds of people knowing that you all understand each other fundamentally

there aren’t enough words to express what that concert meant to me and i’m just so thankful that i got to go. i really hope they come back soon but until then!! at least i have The Maine in less than a month to look forward to 🙂

and tbh to really understand/know the parts of me i don’t like talking about all you have to do is listen to my music recommendations because the artists i admire always put my thoughts and feelings in much more eloquent/comprehensible ways than i could ever hope to

vessel and blurryface are two of the best albums i’ve ever heard and i am so glad they’re out in the world

stay strong / live on / pass on these songs |-/

x Natasha
